CALGARY — Calgary Municipal Land Corporation has been named a recipient of a national ‘Brownie’ Award from the Canadian Urban Institute for Best Overall Project — Large Scale for its work on the East Village redevelopment project.
The CUI Brownie Awards recognize leadership and innovation in brownfield redevelopment, and place emphasis on projects that offer a quality of place and contribute to the community at large.
“For the past five years, East Village has undergone a remarkable transformation into a true urban village,” said Michael Brown, president and chief executive of CMLC, in a news release.
CMLC recently announced $600 million of mixed-use private investment in the area, opened the second phase of RiverWalk early this month and is forging ahead with its partners on the construction of an 8,000-square-foot sales and marketing centre in preparation for the launch of residential sales early 2012.
The East Village redevelopment master-planned, mixed-use community east of Calgary’s downtown.
